Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Unnamed Lord of the Rings RPG developer Warhorse Studiosannounced today on its websitethat the studio has been a victim of a noteworthy cyberattack, the full scope of which was not detailed or fully assessed yet. The post does, however, confirm that the attack provided unauthorized access to company systems and data.
“This is a serious incident for Warhorse Studios and everyone affected,” writes Warhorse CEO Martin Frývaldský. “Our immediate priority is to secure our systems, establish the full extent of the breach, and take the necessary steps to protect our employees, partners, and community. We are dedicating the resources needed to address this situation and will communicate further information as soon as we responsibly can.”
The studio confirms in the update that it is working with <a href="https://bitcomme.com/georgia-southern-receives-perfect-score-on-cybersecurity-audit/” title=”Georgia Southern receives perfect score on cybersecurity audit”>cybersecurity experts to get a handle on the attack. The studio is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fellowship Entertainment, a spin-off of Embracer.
When a studio is the victim of a cyberattack, the data the hackers obtain can have numerous cascading effects on the company and its employees. Payroll data, including social security numbers or international equivalents, can be exposed and published online. If the hackers are able to access internal files, projects currently being worked on can also be exposed.
One such example is when Pokémon developer Game Freaksuffered an attack in 2024that exposed the data of 2600 employees. The hack also led to the public release of development information of assets, concept art, and unannounced game development plans.
It’s unknown at this time if the attack on Warhorse achieved a similar scale.
