Frontier Airlines class action lawsuits overview:
- Who: Two separate class action lawsuits were filed against Frontier Airlines Inc. after a data breach exposed customers’ and employees’ personal information.
- Why: The plaintiffs claim Frontier failed to adequately secure their data with and delayed notifying data breach victims.
- Where: The Frontier Airlines class action lawsuits were both filed in Colorado federal court.
Two new class action lawsuits accuse Frontier Airlines of failing to protect the personal information of thousands of customers and employees in a data breach.
Plaintiffs Grace Stean and Kimah Beach both filed their class action lawsuits on July 15 in Colorado federal court.
Stean alleges cybercriminals identified as Scattered Lapsus$Hunters accessed and exfiltrated data from Frontier’s systems on May 12 and June 3, exposing names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers and other sensitive information in the Frontier Airlines data breach.
The class action lawsuit claims Frontier learned of the breach around June 18 but did not notify affected individuals until July 9. Beach alleges Frontier did not begin formally notifying victims of the Frontier Airlines data breach until July 14.
Both Frontier Airlines class action lawsuits allege the airline failed to adequately protect consumers’ personal information. The complaints assert claims of negligence and negligence per se, with Stean also alleging breach of contract and unjust enrichment and Beach alleging invasion of privacy and breach of fiduciary duty.
Stean proposes a nationwide class of everyone whose information was compromised in the data breach and who received a notice letter. Beach proposes a class of U.S. residents whose information was compromised in the breach.
Both plaintiffs demand a jury trial and seek damages and injunctive relief for the class.
Frontier data breach victims describe spam calls, lost time and anxiety
Stean alleges she has spent about two and a half hours a week monitoring her accounts and contacting credit bureaus since the breach, more time than before. She also alleges she has received more spam calls on the number she gave Frontier, which she believes are tied to the breach.
“Plaintiff has experienced anxiety and increased concerns arising from the fact that her [personally identifiable information] has been or will be misused and from the loss of her privacy,” Stean’s lawsuit alleges.
Beach claims she spent time researching the breach, reviewing statements, changing passwords and freezing her credit with all three bureaus. Both plaintiffs allege anxiety and a heightened risk of identity theft because their data remains in unauthorized hands.
The lawsuits allege the delay in notifying victims kept them from protecting themselves sooner. Beach alleges formal notice began July 14, 2026, weeks after the hacking group claimed responsibility.
Both class action lawsuits seek class certification, damages and injunctive relief requiring Frontier to strengthen its data security and provide credit monitoring to class members.
In another class action lawsuit, Frontier Airlines is accused of discrimination against disabled and Latino passengers by allegedly canceling flights, denying boarding and failing to accommodate passengers with disabilities.
