Flood disasters do not stop at damaged fields, lost crops or broken irrigation systems. Their economic effects spread through labor markets, rural infrastructure, storage, transport and public services, reducing the efficiency with which agricultural economies convert land, water, labor and capital into output.

A think tank report has shown that the percentages of people who have used generative AI differ across the world’s economies. It pointed to a widening divide between usage in the Global North and the Global South.

Enterprise AI is evolving into two distinct economies: firms that are leveraging AI to fundamentally redesign operations and those that are merely layering AI tools to chase return on investment. Organisations in the first group are seeing accelerated progress and competitive advantages. The second group remains stagnant, unable to fully capitalize on AI’s potential.
