Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have approved a major reform of the European Union (EU) Customs Code, introducing tougher rules for e-commerce imports and creating a new customs authority. The changes will affect non-EU web shops, platforms, import-export companies and retail supply chains shipping goods directly to EU consumers.

The Council of the European Union (EU) has given final approval to a landmark overhaul of the EU customs framework, introducing tougher e-commerce rules, stronger controls on unsafe and non-compliant goods, and a new EU customs authority to improve enforcement and risk management.

The 2026 APEC Customs-Business Dialogue (ACBD 2026) convened on the sidelines of the second meeting of the APEC Sub-Committee on Customs Procedures (SCCP2), with the participation of representatives from customs authorities and other government agencies of APEC economies, international organisations, academia, and the business community.
