Sycomp has appointed cybersecurity executive Todd Dekkinga as chief information security officer, expanding its executive leadership as the global IT services provider strengthens its cybersecurity practice amid rising enterprise demand for integrated security solutions.
In addition to serving as CISO, Dekkinga will lead Sycomp’s growing security practice, overseeing the company’s cybersecurity strategy, governance, risk management, compliance and security operations. He will also work with customers, sales teams and technology partners to expand Sycomp’s security offerings and support strategic enterprise engagements.
The appointment comes as cybersecurity continues to rank among the highest technology spending priorities for enterprises worldwide. Organizations are increasingly seeking IT partners that can integrate security across cloud infrastructure, endpoint management, data centers and global operations rather than treating cybersecurity as a standalone function.
“We are thrilled to have Todd join Sycomp and lead our global security practice, a growing area of our business as customers and partners continue to make security a strategic IT priority,” said Michael Symons, chief executive officer of Sycomp. “Todd brings more than 25 years of experience leading cybersecurity, risk management, and IT organizations, complementing and enhancing our security engineering expertise.”
Dekkinga brings more than two decades of leadership experience spanning cybersecurity, enterprise risk management and information technology. Prior to joining Sycomp, he held executive IT and advisory positions across the technology, financial services and life sciences sectors, where he led security and risk initiatives for complex organizations operating in highly regulated environments.
His industry involvement extends beyond corporate leadership. Dekkinga serves in leadership roles with several technology executive organizations, including the Bay Area Biotech CIO Group, CISE, SIM SF Bay Area and The CISO Society, reflecting his longstanding engagement with the cybersecurity and CIO communities.
“I am excited to join the Sycomp team and have been impressed with its global capabilities and engineering expertise, having worked with Sycomp as a customer,” Dekkinga said. “I look forward to working with our customers and partners, continuing to grow our security business, and leveraging Sycomp’s expertise in new industries.”
The leadership appointment follows additional recognition for Sycomp’s cybersecurity business. The company was recently named a finalist in the second annual CRN Best of the Channel Awards in the Best Security Solution Provider of the Year category, underscoring its growing presence in the enterprise security market.
The hire reflects broader trends across the IT services industry, where solution providers are expanding executive security leadership and managed cybersecurity capabilities to meet growing customer demand. As enterprises contend with increasingly sophisticated cyber threats, evolving regulatory requirements and more complex hybrid IT environments, providers are investing in specialized expertise that combines strategic security leadership with implementation and operational support.
Headquartered in Silicon Valley, Sycomp provides global IT services, logistics and technology solutions spanning cloud infrastructure, data centers, endpoint management and cybersecurity. The company supports Fortune 500 organizations and technology partners in more than 150 countries through a combination of consulting, engineering, integration services and global deployment capabilities.
