Gently used dorm furniture is getting a second life in Winston-Salem through a pop-up sale aimed at keeping usable items out of local landfills while helping students save money.
Campus Reclaimed, a student-founded startup created by recent Wake Forest University graduate Anna Anstey, is hosting a college dorm furniture sale at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in the Allegacy Parking Lot. Shoppers can browse items including headboards, nightstands, lamps and other dorm essentials.
“As a Wake Forest student, I saw firsthand how much usable furniture and decor was left behind at the end of each school year,” Anstey said. “After Wake Forest’s May 2025 move-out, 97.5 tons of waste ended up in landfills. I created Campus Reclaimed to help students reuse furniture, save money, and reduce waste.”
The pop-up sale is scheduled for July 30-Aug. 2 and Aug. 6-9 and will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is open to the Winston-Salem community and surrounding areas.
