Stoke Space on Tuesday said it has raised $1 billion in a new funding round that will help support the first launch of its Nova rocket in early 2027 and continued development of a follow-on launch vehicle.
The Series E round was co-led by Point72Ventures and Spark Capital.
General Innovation, Glade Brook Capital, US Innovation Technology, Washington Harbour Partners, Woven Capital, Y Combinator and other new and existing investors participated in the funding. Stoke, which is based near Seattle, has raised $2.3 billion in capital so far.
Stoke is targeting early 2027 for the orbital launch of its Nova Pathfinder rocket that is aimed at proving the core architecture, operational capabilities, and full reuse of technologies. The Pathfinder mission will also carry payloads to orbit.
Nova is planned to be a reusable launch vehicle to keep costs down and increase availability.
The Block 2 Nova is currently in development and will feature a larger capacity — 15 metric tons to Low Earth Orbit versus 2.5 metric tons for the Pathfinder — with first launch targeted for 2029.
“Nova Pathfinder is how we turn the promise of Nova into flight-proven capability,” Andy Lapsa, co-founder and CEO of Stoke, said in a statement. “Pathfinder allows us to learn quickly, reduce risk, and prove the hardest parts of a fully reusable architecture in flight. Nova Block 2 scales those lessons into the capacity and cadence our customers are asking for. This investment allows us to move with urgency on both and brings us closer to delivering payloads to any orbit on any time.”
