IIT-Bombay-incubated space-tech startup InspeCity has raised Rs 100 crore ($10.5 million) in a pre-Series A funding round co-led by Speciale Invest and investor Ashish Kacholia, with participation from Antler Elevate, Antler India, Manish Gandhi, and Shastra VC.
The Mumbai-based startup had earlier secured$5.6 million(around Rs 46 crore) in its seed funding round led by Ashish Kacholia, with participation from Speciale Invest, Shastra VC, Antler India, DeVC, MGF-Kavachh, and Anicut Capital in May last year. It had alsoraised$1.5 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Speciale Invest and others.
The fresh capital will be deployed towards flight qualification and scaling commercial activities, InspeCity said in a press release.
Founded in 2022 by Arindrajit Chowdhury, InspeCity is a space-tech startup developing in-space servicing, assembly, and manufacturing (ISAM) technologies to extend satellite lifespans and address space debris.
The company is developing Vehicle for Life-Extension and Deorbiting Activities (VEDA), an autonomous in-space servicing architecture designed to extend satellite lifetimes and progressively enable more sophisticated orbital servicing. It has broken satellite life extension into the fundamental capabilities required for autonomous operations in space.
These include GITA (Green Impulse TrAnsmitter) for spacecraft propulsion and mobility; CHAKSU (Comprehensive AI-enabled satellite-tracking Sensor Unit) for sensing, navigation, and proximity operations; RAMA (Remotely Actuated Motorized Arm) for robotic manipulation; and SPARSH (Self-aligning Port for Autonomous Refueling and Satellite Housekeeping) for cooperative docking and in-orbit propellant transfer.
Together, these technologies form the building blocks for increasingly capable orbital platforms spanning RIG (Remote Inspection and Guidance), VEDA, and SAMA (Space-Based Maintenance Asset).
Over the next 12-18 months, the company plans to execute four in-orbit missions under the RIG-X, VEDA-X, and SAMA-X mission roadmap, progressively validating its propulsion, sensing, autonomous operations, robotics, docking, and refuelling capabilities in space.
Several prominent space-tech startups have also raised significant capital. Skyroot Aerospace raised $50 million in a Series C round, while EtherealX raised $21 million in Series A funding and Bellatrix Aerospace secured $20 million in Series A funding.
Earlier, Digantara raised $50 million in a Series B round in December 2025. Agnikul Cosmos, meanwhile, raised Rs 150 crore in a Series C round in November 2025.
Other companies, including Dhruva Space, GalaxEye, and Pixxel, are also strengthening the ecosystem through satellite infrastructure, earth observation, and space-data solutions.
