Analytics category credential validates capabilities in AI and real-time analytics architectures
Cloud AI managed services provider (MSP) SmileShark announced on the 19th that it had earned the Analytics category of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Data Competency, securing its first qualification among the eight categories.
The Analytics category SmileShark earned evaluates end-to-end capabilities in designing, building and operating analytics solutions that support business intelligence (BI) and data-driven decision-making. The assessment covers major AWS analytics services, including Amazon Redshift, Athena, AWS Glue, EMR and Kinesis, as well as the ability to use open-format data lakes based on Apache Iceberg.
The AWS Data Competency is a rigorous qualification awarded only to partners with proven technical expertise and customer success stories spanning the data lifecycle. It is organized into eight categories, including databases, analytics, streaming and data engineering. With this achievement, SmileShark has received formal recognition for its ability to build data foundations that support customers’ analytics and AI workloads.
“Customers need data architectures that can keep pace with the demands of AI and real-time analytics,” said Jinhwan Chang, CEO of SmileShark. “Earning this Data Competency confirms our ability to help customers modernize their data environments, reduce complexity and turn the value of their data into AI outcomes.”
Founded in 2019, SmileShark has grown rapidly in the startup sector, achieving the Premier Tier—the highest level in the AWS Partner Network—just five years after its founding. The company signed a strategic collaboration agreement with AWS on generative AI in 2025 and earned Information Security Management System and Personal Information Protection Management System (ISMS-P) certification in May 2026. SmileShark plans to earn the remaining Data Competency categories in sequence, starting with Analytics.
