Seo-gu, Daejeon, recently took administrative measures against local wedding halls that were caught operating without obtaining approval for the use of buildings.
According to Seo-gu on the 20th, the wedding hall was found to have operated without approval for use while undergoing a process to change its use as a wedding hall after receiving a building permit as an existing performance hall. It was also confirmed that food was cooked and provided with buffet facilities without reporting the business of general restaurants in the building.
In response, the Seo-gu filed a complaint against the owner of the building along with administrative measures under the Building Act, including a ban on the use of buildings without permission, and imposed enforcement penalties for violating the prohibition order. In addition, the company plans to file a complaint against the owner in accordance with the Food Sanitation Act for unreported general restaurant business activities and close the facility from the 24th.
Seo-gu explained that it is also considering support measures for prospective newlyweds who have signed with the wedding hall. The West’s position is that it will review various measures with related departments to reduce damage to existing contractors without undermining the principle of administrative disposition.
However, Seo-gu reviewed using urban parks and government office facilities as wedding spaces, but added that it is looking for other alternatives based on the opinion of the Election Commission that providing public facilities to those who have signed a contract with a specific wedding hall may constitute donations under the Public Official Election Act.
“Protecting the safety and health of citizens is the most basic responsibility of the administration,” said Seo-gu District Commissioner for Professional Studies. “Administrative measures in accordance with laws and principles will be pursued without wavering, but measures will be actively examined to minimize damage in good faith.” Reporter Lee Tae-hee in Daejeon
