Wednesday’s stabilization leaves investors debating whether contracted revenue can protect Salesforce from increasingly capable general-purpose agents.

Summary
- Salesforce’s backlog offers a cushion, but its dedicated AI business remains comparatively small.
Salesforce CRM, the customer-relationship-management software leader, fell approximately 4% Tuesday as GPT-6 Astra reignited Wall Street’s fear that general-purpose AI could swallow functions now handled by specialized software. The stock steadied Wednesday, trading nearly flat at $248.84.
The latest quarterly results still give the bulls real ammunition. Current remaining performance obligations reached $33.5 billion, while quarterly revenue hit $11.3 billion. Agentforce annual recurring revenue topped $1.5 billion after more than tripling year over year, but that emerging business represents only about 3.2% of Salesforce’s $46.25 billion full-year revenue-guidance midpoint.
Contracted obligations equal roughly 72% of annual guidance, giving Salesforce a sturdy near-term cushion while customers test newer AI models. Yet contracts cannot permanently shield seat growth, pricing or renewals if independent agents become capable substitutes. The chart sharpens the valuation debate: Salesforce trades 26.97% below its $340.76 GF Value estimate, suggesting investors have already priced in a meaningful slice of the disruption risk.
