AC Milan have announced a new key addition to their operational structure, according to a report: James Fontanella-Khan.
According to Calcio e Finanza, Fontanella-Khan – who is currently US Finance Editor of the Financial Times – will leave the British financial newspaper after more than 20 years to join the Rossoneri club as chief corporate affairs officer.

Breaker Media – a New York-based US publication specialising in media, business, and finance – reports that Fontanella-Khan will remain at the Financial Times until the end of October. Then, he’ll begin his new experience alongside Milan owner and founder of RedBird Capital, Gerry Cardinale.
Fontanella-Khan is ‘expected to split his time between Milan and New York’, taking on a role that will see him cover the club’s corporate affairs at a particularly crucial stage for the American ownership’s plans. For example, it is reported that a ‘Head of Football’ is also being sought.
The journalist is a leading figure in the international financial reporting landscape. In April 2025, he was promoted to US Finance Editor by the FT, responsible for coverage of major Wall Street groups, as well as private equity, asset management, and hedge funds.
Having joined the Financial Times in 2005, Fontanella-Khan has worked in London, Brussels, India and the United States, building a team dedicated to American finance and major corporate transactions in recent years.
The future Milan director also has a personal connection to the world of football. Before embarking on a full-time career in journalism, he played as a goalkeeper in the youth academy of a Serie A club, an experience he gained between the late 1990s and the early 2000s.
According to Breaker Media, in recent years Fontanella-Khan has also turned down professional offers from Politico and Semafor, now choosing to leave journalism and move directly to the other side of the desk.
