School reaches its highest-ever position as Boston University also records a historic rise in the national rankings
Boston University Questrom School of Business has reached a new high in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Undergraduate Business Programs rankings, climbing four spots in a single year to No. 33 in the nation.
The ranking marks Questrom’s highest-ever position on the U.S. News undergraduate business list and continues the School’s upward trajectory among the nation’s leading business programs.
Questrom’s rise comes during a banner year for Boston University overall. BU climbed eight places to No. 34 among national universities, also the University’s highest-ever placement in the 43-year history of the U.S. News rankings. BU was evaluated alongside 421 other national universities.
Questrom Continues Its Rise
The No. 33 ranking builds on years of progress for Questrom’s undergraduate program. In 2024, the School ranked No. 36 after climbing two positions that year, continuing a longer-term rise in its national standing.
That momentum comes as Questrom continues to invest in the undergraduate student experience and rethink how students prepare for a rapidly changing business environment.
Beginning in fall 2025, Questrom launched the first phase of a major redesign of its undergraduate curriculum, developed with input from faculty, staff, alumni, and employers. The new curriculum introduces important business concepts earlier, expands experiential learning, and emphasizes a set of core capabilities—including critical and innovative thinking, analytics, teamwork and leadership, global business, markets and competition, and technology literacy.
The goal: prepare students not simply to understand business, but to enter internships and careers ready to contribute from day one.
Strong Showings Across Business Specialties
Questrom also earned national recognition across several undergraduate business specialties in the new rankings.
- No. 37 in Finance
- No. 38 in Analytics
- No. 39 in Management
- No. 39 in Marketing
- No. 48 in Accounting
Together with Questrom’s No. 33 overall undergraduate business ranking, the results reflect the breadth of the School’s business education across some of the fields most sought after by students and employers.
A Historic Year for Boston University
Questrom’s milestone is part of a broader rise across Boston University.
BU’s jump from No. 42 to No. 34 nationally represents an eight-place improvement in a single year and the University’s best showing ever in the U.S. News national university rankings.
The University made notable gains in measures tied to student outcomes. BU advanced 18 places in the rankings’ social mobility measure, aided by a six-year graduation rate for Pell Grant recipients that increased from 89 percent to 92 percent. BU also ranked No. 45 nationally in a new earnings-by-major measure examining postgraduation earnings among bachelor’s degree recipients who had received federal financial aid.
Building on the Momentum
Questrom’s new No. 33 ranking adds another milestone to a period of growing external recognition for the School. Questrom was also ranked No. 16 among undergraduate business schools by Poets&Quants in 2025, its fourth consecutive year in that publication’s Top 20.
For Questrom, the rankings provide another external measure of progress as the School continues strengthening its curriculum, investing in career preparation, and equipping students with the business, analytical, technological, and leadership capabilities they need in an evolving global economy.
And with its highest-ever U.S. News undergraduate business ranking, Questrom’s trajectory continues upward.
