Provident Financial Services and Provident Bank promoted Diane Gigliotti to senior vice president, chief accounting officer, the Iselin-based financial institutions announced Aug. 4.
Elevated from her role as controller, Gigliotti takes the reins from Adriano Duarte.
Duarte received his own promotion in June to executive vice president and chief financial officer. He stepped into the position following the retirement of longtime Provident executive Thomas Lyons, who was with the bank for more than two decades.
Gigliotti will report to Duarte. The CFO said she is “an exceptional leader whose expertise, judgment, and commitment to excellence have made a significant impact on our Finance organization.”
In her new position, Gigliotti will oversee Provident’s accounting function, including accounting policy, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, internal controls, tax oversight and accounting operations.

A 2025 NJBIZ Leaders in Finance honoree, Gigliotti brings more than 20 years of experience in accounting, finance, regulatory reporting and financial services leadership to her new role.
She joined Provident in 2023 from BBVA, where she served as CFO and managing director. She previously held finance and accounting positions with Merrill Lynch and PricewaterhouseCoopers

Gigliotti said she was honored to take on the new role. “Provident has a strong culture centered on teamwork, integrity, and serving our customers and communities,” she noted. “I look forward to continuing to work alongside our talented Finance team and colleagues across the organization to support the Bank’s long-term success and strategic objectives.”
Duarte added, “Since joining Provident, she has consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of accounting, regulatory reporting, and financial management, while fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.”
A Certified Public Accountant, Gigliotti earned her MBA from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business. She received a bachelor’s in accounting from Rutgers University.
Adding to the team
Gigliotti’s and Duarte’s promotions follow other executive moves as well as appointments at Provident this year, including:
- Michael Regan, former senior bank examiner at the FDIC, was appointed to the boards of directors
- Annamaria Vitelli as executive vice president, chief wealth officer for Provident, as well as president of Morristown-based Beacon Trust
- Michael Perito as head of investor relations
