Colo. (KKTV) – Colorado Springs police are investigating three bank robberies reported within about 20 minutes Thursday afternoon
The first robbery was reported at approximately 12:04 p.m. in the 1100 block of N. Circle Drive, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.
Officers arrived at the scene, and within minutes, police received a report of a second bank robbery in the 500 block of N. Circle Drive.
About 10 minutes later, a third robbery was reported in the 400 block of N. Tejon Street in downtown Colorado Springs.
Police said the three robberies occurred over the course of about 20 minutes. Few details about the incidents have been released as the investigation remains in its early stages.
CSPD’s Robbery Unit responded to all three locations and is being assisted by additional investigative units within the department’s Metro Division, as well as the FBI.
Investigators are actively pursuing leads, police said.
The third robbery occurred at the Chase Bank location in downtown Colorado Springs. A representative for Chase Bank told KKTV 11 News it is working with local law enforcement throughout the investigation.
A woman who spoke with KKTV said her mother works at the Wells Fargo location involved in one of the robberies. She said her mother never expected something like this to happen.
“My mom called me and said that somebody came in with a gun, and another lady also came out. She was already out and said that he was only able to take one of the cash registers. It’s really scary, my mom is in shock right now,” Grace, the woman’s daughter who asked to be identified by her first name, said.
Police have not released additional details about what happened inside the banks or whether the three robberies are connected.
