PayTabs Group, a Saudi Arabia-founded FinTech specialising in payment processing and digital infrastructure, has agreed to acquire Amazon Payment Services’ Middle East and North Africa (MENA) payments business in a deal valued at more than $100m.
The transaction has been approved by both companies, although the exact purchase price has not been disclosed. Following completion, the combined business is expected to process more than SAR150bn annually, positioning PayTabs as the largest payments infrastructure provider in the MENA region.
The acquisition brings Amazon Payment Services’ regional payments operations under PayTabs ownership, expanding its footprint across a market where payments infrastructure remains fragmented across multiple providers.
Both companies said continuity will be a key focus during the integration. Customers are expected to experience minimal disruption, while the combined operation will aim to improve onboarding speeds and support local regulatory compliance across MENA markets.
PayTabs has expanded its payments infrastructure through banking relationships, regulatory licences across multiple jurisdictions and proprietary technology. Its platform provides payment processing, automated transaction switching and payouts through a single system.
The acquisition will add Amazon Payment Services’ regional infrastructure and customer relationships to that platform, giving PayTabs greater scale across the MENA payments market.
The deal also marks a further consolidation of the region’s payments infrastructure, as providers look to build broader platforms capable of serving merchants and financial institutions across multiple markets.
