Park Hang-seo (67), who leads Thailand’s Kanchanaburi Power, was angry at the racism of the Thai crowd.
On the 1st (Korea Standard Time), coach Park Hang-seo had a fierce war of words with the crowd as he left the stadium after finishing the second part of Thailand’s match against Pattaya United 2-2 in Chonburi, Thailand.
In the video released on social media, a person believed to be a fan of the opposing team repeatedly shouted the insulting words “Kimchi Man. X King Kimchi Man” at Park.
After seeing this, coach Park responded by making a gesture to put his hands on his lips and tell him to be quiet.
The problem is that the provocation continued afterwards. Then, Park pretended to shake his fist and shouted “Come down” to the grandstand.
As the situation became harsh, club officials and players took Park into the locker room, stopping him.
Combining Korean food kimchi with abusive language constitutes clear racism. According to Vietnamese and Thai media, insulting comments were also made against Canchanaburi midfielder John Bazio.
Locally, the fan is presumed to be Western.
The Canchanaburi club strongly condemned the racist act in an official statement.
