OpenAI (Unlisted:OPAI) said its ChatGPT Ads business has reached a $1 billion annualized revenue run rate just six months after launch, as it works to showcase a diversified revenue base ahead of an expected initial public offering.
The advertising unit, roughly 200 days old, now sits alongside OpenAI’s enterprise contracts, consumer subscriptions and usage-based API revenue streams.
ChatGPT Ads are currently available in more than 40 countries. OpenAI said it is opening self-service access to marketers in India, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa on Monday.
“Our next phase of growth will bring ChatGPT Ads to more markets and introduce additional formats, objectives, buying options, and measurement capabilities,” OpenAI said in a release. “We will also explore new ways for businesses to interact with consumers in more native ways in ChatGPT.”
The company is targeting $2.5 billion in advertising revenue for the current year and said it is tracking toward annualized revenue exceeding $40 billion, roughly double its run rate at the end of 2025.
