SecVite, a Nigerian mobile application that processes event ticketing and guest verification, has reached 600 users since its launch last October. As first reported by technology publication Disrupt Africa, the self-funded company operates on a transaction-based revenue model and is evaluating pre-seed investment to scale its operations within the domestic market.
Founder Hameed Yusuf, a senior software engineer with over 10 years of experience, told the publication he built the platform to consolidate fragmented planning systems. Instead of charging organizers an upfront cost, the platform generates capital by applying a service fee between five and 7.5 percent on transactions processed through the application. Yusuf noted that event organizers traditionally rely on a disjointed mix of messaging applications, digital forms, spreadsheets, and bank transfers to manage a single gathering. The startup developed the application to remove this friction by handling guest approvals, invitations, and controlled access for private celebrations in a unified system.
The software enables event hosts to manage attendee lists and control physical access using QR codes. The system also processes financial contributions and handles RSVPs. Yusuf tested the initial deployment during his own wedding, managing over 400 guests and checking in more than 300 attendees through the QR code scanner. Because many of the application’s first users experienced the platform as wedding guests, the company is now working to transition those individuals into active organizers who will use the software to run their own events.
The payment infrastructure handles multiple transaction types, enabling hosts to monetize and manage private gatherings. The transaction capabilities cover ticket purchases, vendor payments, cash gifts, and a digital money spray feature.
Rather than expanding to other African markets immediately, the startup intends to prove its financial structure in Nigeria first. Management expects that demonstrating consistent organizer retention and guest transaction volume will naturally lead to scalable revenue as the platform matures.
