Related agentic updates include the ability for merchants to preview their stores within agents and tools to help create digital products for agents. Ottawa, Ontario-based Shopify says its AI agent transactions are secured with tokens issued by Discover, Mastercard, and Visa.
Shopify also added payment methods, such as Alipay, WeChat Pay, and GrabPay with native support. This provides ways for consumers to pay in more of their local payment methods, Shopify says.
It launched Shopify Protect, as well, a service that helps merchants with fraud protection and dispute management. Available to no cost to merchants, the service builds on Shopify’s existing fraud-prevention measures, it says.
The service is meant to stop fraud ideally before a transaction becomes an order. If a suspect transaction does become an order and ends up as a dispute, Shopify says it will help the merchant counter it. It is using new AI tools to gather and format evidence banks want. Since Shopify Protect’s debut, Shopify says dispute win rates are up to 1.6 times higher by category.
