M&T Bank Corporation MTB has announced a series of changes and reclassifications to its financial statement presentation, effective for the third quarter of 2026, according to a recent filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The Buffalo, New York-based bank holding company stated that these changes will have no impact on its total Other income, Income before taxes, Net income, or earnings per common share. The reclassifications are designed to provide enhanced transparency and a more streamlined view of the company’s revenue sources.
Under the new presentation, Trust and <a href="https://bitcomme.com/peak-xv-raises-surge-startup-investment-cap-to-5-million-ukraine-news/” title=”Peak XV Raises Surge Startup Investment Cap to $5 Million | Ukraine news”>investment services income will primarily consist of Trust income and Brokerage services income, which were previously reported as separate categories within Other income. Meanwhile, Mortgage banking revenues will remain unchanged.
Service charges on deposit accounts will no longer include debit card interchange revenues. Instead, a new category called Card revenues will be introduced, comprising credit card interchange and merchant discount revenue—previously included in Other revenues from operations—along with debit card interchange revenues that were formerly part of Service charges on deposit accounts.
Additionally, Letter of credit and other credit-related fees, which were previously included in Other revenues from operations, will now be presented as a distinct category. Capital markets and advisory revenues will be expanded to include the former Trading account and other non-hedging derivative gains category, as well as loan syndication, underwriting, and advisory fees that were previously reported under Other revenues from operations.
Gain (loss) on bank investment securities will remain unchanged. Other revenues from operations will continue to include bank owned life insurance revenue, equipment operating lease income, distributions from M&T’s investment in Bayview Lending Group LLC, and other fees and revenues.
In a separate but related change, M&T Bank MTB will begin separately presenting loans held for sale from loans held for investment in its Consolidated Balance Sheet, Average Balance Sheet, and Taxable-equivalent Rates disclosures. As a result, annualized taxable-equivalent rates for each impacted loan category and certain loan-based credit quality ratios will exclude loans held for sale.
To assist investors and analysts in understanding these changes, M&T Bank MTB is providing unaudited supplemental historical financial information that conforms prior period financial statement presentations to the new format. This supplemental information was furnished as part of the company’s Regulation FD disclosure and is not deemed “filed” for purposes of Section 18 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934.
These presentation changes reflect M&T Bank’s ongoing efforts to align its financial reporting with evolving business operations and to offer greater clarity to stakeholders. The company emphasized that the reclassifications are purely presentational and do not alter its underlying financial performance or capital position.
