It’s the year of Micron (MU) in tech — not Nvidia (NVDA).
Off-the-charts demand for its memory chips during the AI boom has totally recast the company’s financial results. That is nicely captured in the chart below fromX user Trade Whisperer.
Micron is about to out-earn every single Magnificent Seven name in the current quarter in operating income. Those seven names include: Microsoft, Google, Apple, Amazon, Meta, Tesla and Nvidia.
Making this even more interesting is that Micron has the smallest market cap compared to these six tech beasts at roughly $1.1 trillion.
Micron has had a week, and year, to remember.
The company easily beat sales and profit forecasts for the quarter on Wednesday on voracious demand from the AI boom. Guidance was also strong, except for margin comments on the earnings call.
But keep Micron’s quarter in context.
Consider this: Micron added about $43 billion in sales in the most recent quarter compared to the year-ago quarter. That’s massive. Operating margins exploded in all business segments.
Shares are up 285% year to date.
