In her opening remarks at the conference, Ms. Dao Thi Hoa, Chairwoman of the Provincial Women’s Union, along with the delegates, reviewed the glorious 96-year journey of building and developing the Vietnam Women’s Union, while also honoring the fine traditions of women throughout history. In particular, she emphasized that after 5 years of implementation, the “Godmother Program” launched by the Central Women’s Union has become a deeply humane activity. The joint investment and care from all levels of the Women’s Union, departments, and businesses not only provide material support but also create a strong spiritual foundation, instilling confidence and strength in orphaned children to overcome difficulties and strive for a better future. To date, the entire province has 717 collectives and individuals participating in the “Godmother Program,” including 71 Women’s Union officials who directly sponsor and support children with resources. From 2021 to the present, the program has supported and sponsored 2,292 orphaned children in difficult circumstances, with an additional 167 children receiving sponsorship in September and October 2026 alone; the total resources mobilized reached over 12 billion VND.
At the conference, there was an exchange and sharing program between “Godmothers” and the children, sharing touching stories in their journey of connecting with love; honoring and recognizing 30 outstanding “Godmother” groups and individuals for the period 2021-2026; and presenting gifts to 131 orphaned children in difficult circumstances.
Alongside the activities of meeting and expressing gratitude to “Godmothers,” the Provincial Women’s Union organized the closing ceremony and awards presentation for the 2026 Provincial “Women’s Entrepreneurship” Competition with the theme “Creative Women Entrepreneurs, Digital Transformation , Green Transformation, Circular Economy Development.” The competition attracted 55 startup projects from 55 women from 47 communes and wards across the province, demonstrating dynamism, creativity, bold innovation in production and business thinking, and the exploitation of local potential and strengths.
Many projects are innovative, have practical applications, link economic development with environmental protection, and exploit the cultural values and distinctive products of the locality. In 2026, the Women’s Union at all levels organized over 40 training conferences, forums, and fairs with nearly 10,000 participants; supporting women in improving their knowledge and skills in production, business, product promotion, trade networking, applying e-commerce, livestreaming sales, and cashless payments.
Speaking at the conference, Ms. Dinh Thi Lua, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, acknowledged and praised the achievements of the Women’s Union at all levels in implementing the “Godmother” program and supporting women’s entrepreneurship; and also appreciated the contributions of agencies, units, businesses, philanthropists, and collectives and individuals who have accompanied the program.
Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Dinh Thi Lua emphasized that the “Godmother Program” and the “Women Entrepreneurs” Competition, although different in content and implementation methods, both aim to care for and create opportunities for women and children in difficult circumstances to rise in life. One program spreads love and responsibility to the community; the other program awakens aspirations, the spirit of innovation and creativity, and the capacity for economic self-reliance among women.
To build upon the achievements, the comrade suggested that all levels of the Women’s Union continue to innovate the content and methods of their activities, focusing strongly on the grassroots; promote the role, potential, intelligence, and creativity of women in socio-economic development; effectively implement the “Support for Women’s Entrepreneurship Project giai đoạn 2026-2035”; and accelerate the application of science and technology, digital transformation, green transformation, and support women in developing sustainable production and business. At the same time, they should continue to effectively mobilize social resources to care for women and children in difficult circumstances, and improve the quality and sustainability of the “Godmother Program”.
At the conference, the Organizing Committee awarded prizes to outstanding projects participating in the 2026 Provincial “Women’s Entrepreneurship” Competition, recognizing creative ideas and promising production and business models that contribute to job creation, income improvement, and local socio-economic development.
