Terrell Jennings, 27, died in an apparent suicide Thursday evening several hours after police believe he robbed three Colorado Springs banks in minutes, the department announced in a news release on Friday.
Police were attempting to arrest Jennings after linking him to robbing banks shortly after noon in the 1100 and 500 blocks of North Circle Drive and the 400 block of North Tejon Street, when officers received a report of a deceased individual. No information was provided on what evidence investigators used to connect him to the crimes.
Sometime after 7:30 p.m., officers matched the vehicle near the report in the 2200 block of Lower Gold Camp Road to Jennings’ vehicle.
The individual’s identity was later confirmed as Jennings by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office, which is investigating his death as a suicide.
Still, CSPD’s investigation into the robberies remains ongoing. On Friday, they reiterated a request for anyone with information or who witnessed the robberies to call the department at 719-444-7000 or remain anonymous on the Crime Stoppers tip line at 719-634-7867.
Tuesday marked the beginning of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and, as always, anyone struggling or in a crisis can call or text the suicide and crisis lifeline at 988 or chat online at 988lifeline.org.
