With Lagos entering one of its
busiest periods for consumer activity, 5,000 eligible businesses are set to
gain access to premium digital, AI, design, branding and marketing resources
through a new partnership between the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF)
and global visual communication platform, Canva.
The one-year LSETF x Canva
MSME Business Support Programme is for nano, micro, small and medium businesses
across Lagos.
Participants will learn to build their brand, market their
business and create professional content faster no cost to participants.
Year-end is one of the busiest
trading periods in Lagos for hospitality, food, fashion, entertainment, beauty
and retail.
Businesses competing for attention need to show their offer clearly
online, and this programme helps them start.
Turning a simple prompt into
original campaign imagery and making signups a single scan away on flyers,
packaging and in-store displays are practical first steps, because the ability
to communicate their offering clearly and professionally across digital
channels can be critical to converting visibility into opportunity.
“Beyond access to
finance, businesses need the right knowledge and digital tools to grow,”
said Mrs. Feyisayo Alayande, executive secretary, Lagos State Employment Trust
Fund. “This partnership with Canva gives selected Lagos MSMEs practical
capabilities they can apply directly to their businesses from creating
compelling content to presenting their ideas with confidence.”
Eligible participants will get
at least four virtual training sessions alongside their Canva Business access.
The sessions focus on real business needs, not only the platform. Empowered team member will learn how to enable continuous Canva design conversations that
understands their brand, helping them to create on-brand content, streamline
workflows, and adapt designs for every channel and audience with ease.
Participants will be supported
in developing practical skills that include:
- Brand management– setting up a
brand kit, presentation and portfolio templates - Agentic workflows– how to
describe a goal and Canva AI brings it to life through a single conversation,
coordinating Canva’s full suite of tools to create everything in every format. - Canva Grow– how to manage and
optimize marketing campaigns across brands, markets, clients- all in one place
“Our timing is very
intentional,” said Farai Ntuli, Canva Africa Partnership Lead. “Lagos
businesses are heading into a busy trading season. We want to give owners
practical tools to use straight away, from digital content to product
packaging, pitch decks and building confidence in Agentic workflows”
The goal is at least 2,000
businesses using Canva consistently, alongside evidence of real outputs such as
brand kits, presentations, portfolios, marketing assets and more.
Applications are currently
open as of 9 October 2026, with participant onboarding planned for early
November and training continuing through February 2027.
Lagos entrepreneurs will have
the chance to start building stronger brands, scale marketing output and
improve content through the program by leaning practical ways to strengthen how
they present, market and grow their businesses.
