Local veteran entrepreneur Dan Spangler has won $30,000 to support his self-cleaning pooper scooper invention, the “Rinse-A-Poo.”
Spangler competed in the North Carolina <a href="https://bitcomme.com/how-is-ai-impacting-small-business-performance-evidence-from-the-third-district/” title=”How Is AI Impacting Small Business Performance? Evidence from the Third District”>Small Business Center Network’s Startup Showdown, where finalists took part in a “Shark Tank”-style pitch competition before judges followed by two weeks of public voting.
April Priester, the program manager for the SBCN Startup Showdown and director of the Small Business Center at Coastal Carolina Community College, said the following:
What we see here at the Small Business Center a lot is individuals with great ideas, but they need access to capital to make that happen. And access to capital can be really challenging for a lot of individuals. But connecting them with a program like the SBCN Startup Showdown really helps them fine-tune their idea … and then potentially connect them with the resources and that funding that they need,” Priester said.
Spangler plans to use the funding to further support the Rinse-A-Poo, a patented pet waste pickup tool designed to rinse out after use.
