Nancy Lee will discuss “Reducing Homelessness: A Social Marketing Approach” at the Rotary Club of Mercer Island’s meeting on Sept. 1 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center, 8236 SE 24th St.
The main meeting begins at 12:30 p.m.; socializing is from noon to 12:30 p.m. Guests are always welcome and there is no fee to attend. A catered lunch is available for $25, or attendees can bring their own meal.
Lee, president of Social Marketing Services and an affiliate instructor at University of Washington, will share a summary from her most recent book on strategies to reduce homelessness using a behavior change approach. Her presentation will also include a brief talk by Andrew Buchananm, development director at Sound Foundations NW who will share about tiny home villages; and Rick Newell, founder of Route 21 who will share about supporting vulnerable youth.
Lee has written 19 books on social marketing and consults on social marketing campaign development, including efforts for the city of Mercer Island. Her focus is on programs that influence behaviors to improve public health, prevent injuries, protect the environment and engage communities.
