Data analytics involves transforming raw data into meaningful information and communicating findings to stakeholders to drive improvements.
According to Salinas, students in the associate and bachelor’s pathways at Laredo College are being prepared to enter the workforce in the field.
Data analytics skills apply across industries including business, health care and education. Salinas said potential roles include data analyst, business intelligence analyst and reporting analyst.
The program’s skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving and communication, are marketable across multiple roles She said organizations increasingly rely on data and need people who can interpret and communicate findings
Salinas said a background in math or programming helps, but students without prior coursework in those areas should not be deterred. She said the program prepares students with the skills they need.
Thursday’s session is open to the public. Attendees will receive details about program requirements and the application process and can ask questions.
