Mo. (KCTV) – Kansas City voters approved five city ballot questions during the August 4 primary election, authorizing major investments across various city development and infrastructure projects
All five Kansas City city ballot questions passed with relative ease, with each of the five questions getting more than two-thirds of a ‘YES’ vote, according to reported numbers just before 10 p.m. Tuesday.
“Tonight is another win for Kansas City,” said Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas. “We were proud to use our capital today to build a Kansas City that will be more affordable for our neighbors, take care of its roads and sewers, and will continue to grow all of our communities, especially those that for too long were left out.”
Tuesday’s results from voters approved:
- Question 1:$100 million in general obligation bonds to replenish the city’s Housing Trust Fund
- Question 2:General obligation bonds to repair and preserve the city’s historic civic buildings, including Municipal Auditorium, Bartle Hall and City Hall.
- Question 3:A 10-year renewal of the existing 1/8-cent CCED sales tax, which provides dedicated funding for East Side projects, including new housing to help Kansas City’s historically Black community.
- Questions 4 and 5:$750 million each in revenue bonds to rehab, expand and improve Kansas City’s drinking water system, as well as its stormwater and sanitary sewer system.
