At the TSNN News Desk during Connect Marketplace, Danica Tormohlen, VP of Group Content for Trade Show News Network, sat down withJill Dougan, Group CMO at Informa. They explore how marketing is evolving—and how Informa is bringing its brands, data and capabilities together through the One Informa transformation program. Her background in financial services and energy has uniquely positioned her to lead Informa’s marketing strategy, focusing on growth and innovation.
Dougan emphasized that her role as a group CMO is pivotal for taking Informa’s marketing to the next level. With a focus on harnessing the company’s incredible assets—its people, events, and data—she is dedicated to transforming these resources into a powerful commercial growth engine.
“Marketing’s really changing. We talk a lot about AI, and I think marketing is really going to be impacted by AI,” said Dougan.
When asked about the tools at her disposal, Dougan explained that it’s not about having more tools but having the right ones. Her mission is to streamline the tools that truly drive growth, ensuring that marketers are equipped with the necessary capabilities to engage audiences effectively.
Dougan introduced the “One Informa” initiative, aimed at integrating the diverse capabilities across the organization. This program is designed to enhance the customer experience, making interactions seamless for exhibitors and attendees alike.
“One Informa is really about how do we take all of those assets and really focus in on taking those to the next level,” said Dougan.
Success for Dougan goes beyond just commercial metrics. While delivering strong results is crucial, understanding audience engagement is equally important. Jill emphasized the need for KPIs that measure not only revenue but also customer satisfaction and value delivered.
“If they don’t see value in it, they won’t come back,” said Dougan.
Dougan’s approach to marketing at Informa is holistic and forward-thinking. By focusing on the right tools, integrating assets, and measuring success through audience engagement, she’s setting the stage for Informa’s continued growth.
