Tulsa Community College is introducing Oklahoma’s first Associate of Science degree in Data Analytics, along with a certificate program. Enrollment is now open, and classes begin in August.
Why is TCC launching the program?
College leaders say organizations in nearly every industry rely on data to make decisions, creating strong demand for workers with data analytics skills.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, data science jobs are projected to grow 34% over the next decade. TCC also says there are currently more than 900 data-related job openings in the Tulsa area.
What will students learn?
Students will gain hands-on experience through real-world case studies developed by practicing data analysts. The program is designed to prepare graduates for entry-level positions while building skills that can be applied across many industries.
What kinds of careers can graduates pursue?
TCC says graduates can pursue roles such as junior data analysts, with opportunities to advance as they gain experience.
Dean of Mathematics and Engineering David Paige says data analytics skills are valuable across virtually every sector.
“You certainly need to be comfortable with technology to be a data analyst, but the industry that you’re working in can basically be anything. Everybody uses data. Corporations use data, nonprofits, institutions of higher learning, whatever area you want to be connected to.”
How does AI fit into the field?
While artificial intelligence can process large amounts of information, TCC leaders say people are still needed to interpret the results and turn data into meaningful business decisions.
“The field is not saturated at all,” said Kirstin Krug, TCC’s Director of Institutional Research, Reporting and Analytics. “There’s a lot of opportunity for growth. This particular degree will certainly help someone get their foot in the door to be a junior analyst if they have not worked in data analytics before, and only the opportunity to grow from there.”

Yes. TCC says scholarships are available for the certificate program.
