Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS), a Catholic nonprofit healthcare system headquartered in Springfield, Illinois, has expanded its contract with Premier, Inc., a technology-enabled healthcare improvement company. The agreement provides the hospital network with access to a group purchasing program alongside data analytics and supply chain tools.
The expanded deployment builds upon an existing quality and analytics arrangement between the organizations. HSHS will implement a centralized platform that connects supply chain metrics with clinical and financial data. The healthcare system intends to use this integrated information to pinpoint areas for financial improvement and reduce variation in care delivery across its facilities.
“Following a rigorous due diligence process, HSHS selected Premier to help advance HSHS’s next phase of performance and transformation,” said Nalin Kulasekara, System Vice President of Ancillary Operations and Supply Chain Management at HSHS. “This expanded agreement supports HSHS’s ongoing efforts to strengthen operational performance and stewardship while advancing our mission of serving patients and communities.”
The technology implementation addresses broader sector challenges, including rising costs, workforce pressures and increasing complexity in care delivery. By combining advisory services with supply chain management systems, the hospital network aims to connect its cost initiatives directly to quality and patient outcomes.
“Health systems today need more than incremental improvements,” said Dr. Emad Rizk, Premier’s Chief Executive Officer, President and Chairman of the Board. “They need a true partner that executes on aligned strategies connecting operations, finance and clinical performance. Our work with HSHS is focused on building that connection, enabling their teams to move more quickly, operate more effectively and support their mission.”
“We are confident this move will create meaningful value for our patients, colleagues and the communities we serve,” said Kathy Donovan, Chief Operating Officer at HSHS.
Beyond the centralized data platform, the partnership grants the hospital network access to Premier’s industry collaboratives and advisory services to support financial resiliency and operational stewardship efforts.
