Deputies: Holley-Navarre Intermediate School bookkeeper stole funds from school accounts

NAVARRE, Fla. — Deputies arrested the now-former bookkeeper at Holley-Navarre Intermediate School on Tuesday for alleged grand theft.
Becky Jean Lynch, 50, is charged with grand theft $10K, less than $20K. She is currently being held in the Santa Rosa County Jail on $2,500 bond.
According to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, Lynch resigned from the bookkeeper position on April 13.
Deputies say that last Thursday, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office received information from Holley-Navarre Intermediate School of “unauthorized credit card purchases and missing funds from school accounts.” Lynch was responsible for overseeing the accounts prior to her resignation.
“The Santa Rosa County School District Finance Department provided documentation to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Property Crime Detectives, determining the theft of funds was over $15,000,” the sheriff’s office says.

The Santa Rosa County School District is aware that a school-based bookkeeper was arrested earlier today and charged with felony larceny in connection with an ongoing law enforcement investigation related to alleged financial misconduct.
The employee previously submitted notice of resignation and retirement dated April 13, 2026. The concerns came to light after that notice was submitted, when discrepancies were identified during internal review processes. The District immediately notified law enforcement upon discovery and is fully cooperating with the investigation and will continue to assist authorities as requested.
The District maintains financial controls and oversight procedures designed to safeguard public funds. When irregularities are identified, they are addressed promptly and referred to the appropriate authorities.
The responsible stewardship of public resources is a fundamental obligation of the District. We remain committed to transparency, accountability, and maintaining the trust of our students, families, and community.
The District will continue to monitor this situation as an ongoing legal matter. As such, the District is unable to provide further information at this time.
