The Yavapai Lodge at Grand Canyon National Park has significantly reduced guest check-in times after installing four self-service kiosks from Canary Technologies, according to a company case study.
The 358-room property, operated by Delaware North, previously experienced waits of up to 30 minutes as guests arrived during the afternoon rush before sunset. Since introducing the kiosks, the lodge reports that guests can check in almost immediately, while two employees can assist up to five guests simultaneously.
The kiosks, <a href="https://media.delawarenorth.com/parks-and-resorts-locations-continue-to-improve-the-guest-experience-through-innovation-and-technology/” rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>installed in May 2025, allow guests to verify identification and obtain room keys without completing the process at a traditional front desk. Jeff Fortin, the lodge’s assistant general manager, said the technology has increased service speed tenfold and eliminated complaints about check-in delays. The property also reports eliminating spending on complimentary meals and room discounts previously offered to dissatisfied guests. Staff members remain available in the lobby to assist guests, allowing employees to spend more time providing personalized service.
Yavapai Lodge also implemented Canary’s AI Guest Messaging platform, enabling visitors to contact staff through text messages or WhatsApp in their preferred language. The system helps address communication difficulties caused by unreliable room telephone service and allows employees to distribute propertywide notifications, including weather alerts. The deployment is part of Delaware North’s broader investment in self-service technology across its parks and resorts operations. In July 2025, the company reported installing 85 retail kiosks and 59 food and beverage kiosks at various locations, using technology from Mashgin, XPR and Tapin2.
