12-year marketing veteran brings experience across sports media and music entertainment to Panthers

SUNRISE, Fla. – The Florida Panthers announced today that Brian Smiley has been named Senior Vice President of Marketing overseeing marketing, content, creative, social media, game presentation, digital media and community relations/Panthers Foundation across the Panthers four venues: Amerant Bank Arena, Baptist Health IcePlex, War Memorial Auditorium and Panthers IceDen.
“Brian brings experience connecting brands with fans through content, partnerships and live experiences and we’re excited to welcome him to the Panthers family,” said Panthers President of Business Operations Michael White.
Smiley brings 15 years of marketing experience across sports media and music entertainment to the Panthers organization. He joins the Panthers after most recently serving as Vice President of Marketing at Overtime, where he led integrated marketing strategy across the sports media platform’s Marketing, E-Commerce, Ticketing and Public Relations teams. He also oversaw communications strategy for major media partnerships with NBCUniversal, ESPN, NFL, NBA/WNBA, ATP and NWSL, while leading marketing for apparel partnerships with Foot Locker and nationwide product launches across 1,400 Target locations.
Prior to Overtime, Smiley served as Vice President of Marketing at Inkbox, where he led the brand’s omnichannel marketing strategy during a period of accelerated growth and managed wholesale partnerships with Walmart, Ulta/Sephora and Urban Outfitters.
Previously, Smiley spent three years as Director of Marketing at Universal Music Group, where he developed national marketing campaigns for artists including Billie Eilish and managed release strategy for Walt Disney/Hollywood Records’ frontline and catalog titles. He began his marketing career at Red Bull, where he spent five years as Director of Culture Marketing and served as project lead for the 2016 Red Bull Music Academy in Montréal.
