Some Fabrinet (NYSE:FN) shareholders may be a little concerned to see that the Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Edward Archer, recently sold a substantial US$965k worth of stock at a price of US$386 per share. That diminished their holding by a very significant 56%, which arguably implies a strong desire to reallocate capital.
Trump has pledged to “unleash” American oil and gas and these 15 US stocks have developments that are poised to benefit.
Fabrinet Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the CEO & Chairman, Seamus Grady, sold US$10m worth of shares at a price of US$448 per share. We generally don’t like to see insider selling, but the lower the sale price, the more it concerns us. The good news is that this large sale was at well above current price of US$407. So it is hard to draw any strong conclusion from it.
Fabrinet insiders didn’t buy any shares over the last year. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Insider Ownership
Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. I reckon it’s a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that Fabrinet insiders own 0.3% of the company, worth about US$35m. We’ve certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.
So What Do The Fabrinet Insider Transactions Indicate?
An insider hasn’t bought Fabrinet stock in the last three months, but there was some selling. And there weren’t any purchases to give us comfort, over the last year. But since Fabrinet is profitable and growing, we’re not too worried by this. While insiders do own shares, they don’t own a heap, and they have been selling. We’d practice some caution before buying! While it’s good to be aware of what’s going on with the insider’s ownership and transactions, we make sure to also consider what risks are facing a stock before making any investment decision. Case in point: We’ve spotted 3 warning signs for Fabrinet you should be aware of, and 1 of these is potentially serious.
But note: Fabrinet may not be the best stock to buy. So take a peek at this freelist of interesting companies with high ROE and low debt.
For the purposes of this article, insiders are those individuals who report their transactions to the relevant regulatory body. We currently account for open market transactions and private dispositions of direct interests only, but not derivative transactions or indirect interests.

You can copy Bill Ackman and buy Netflix. Knowing why you did is the hard part.
Netflix case is interesting. The scariest competitor is the one that does not need to make money. Amazon can run video at a loss forever because it is really a Prime retention tool with a content budget attached. On the other hand there is Youtube.
Pershing Square hasn’t beaten the S&P over the last five years, though the long-run record is genuinely good. I like Ackman as a person. I enjoy listening to Ackman and that’s about where it ends for me.
