Computis, a start-up that combines software, automation and professional consultancy to simplify accounting management for SMEs, has announced the completion of a €2 million pre-seed funding round, led by Techshop Capital as lead investor, with participation from Heartfelt, Zanichelli Venture, Vento, Alecla7, Alpha Ventures, Moonstone and P3Ventures.
Computis was founded in 2026 to address a problem that remains widespread amongst small and medium-sized enterprises: the difficulty of gaining simple and timely access to their economic, financial and tax data. This is a particularly significant issue in a country that, according to Istat data, has over 4.6 million active businesses, and where only 3.5 per cent have actually implemented these tools. For many companies, this information continues to arrive after the event or requires complex manual processes, meaning it is fully accessible primarily to those organisations with a well-structured in-house administrative and financial department.
To meet this need, Computis has developed a model that combines technology, operational support and professional consultancy. The platform automates repetitive tasks such as document collection, the automatic retrieval of invoices from overseas suppliers via their respective portals, bank reconciliation and invoicing processes, whilst the service is complemented by an in-house operational team and a network of partner accountants – independent professionals who assist companies with tax and advisory matters.
The aim is not to replace the accountant, but to enable business owners to have a constantly updated financial and economic overview, so that they can better understand the company’s performance and make more informed decisions. With this in mind, the year-end closing becomes a time to confirm the figures, rather than an occasion when one discovers how the year has gone.
Computis was founded on the shared vision of Enrico Nicosia, CEO, Riccardo Donatelli, CRO, and Leonardo Drici, CPTO (pictured), who chose to pool their expertise in sales, go-to-market, finance and product development to build a solution tailored to the practical needs of businesses. The three founders spent part of their professional careers together at Jet HR, following stints at companies such as Spendesk, Amazon, Deliveroo and Eurostar. It was precisely from the experience they gained in the world of start-ups and SMEs that the idea arose to rethink accounting management through a model that integrates technology, automation and professional service.
“Many business owners are still used to finding out how their business is really performing only when the figures come in at the end of the month, the end of the quarter or even the end of the year. With Computis, we want to change this paradigm: not by reinventing accounting, but by using technology to eliminate manual and repetitive work and transform data into useful information when it’s really needed. We want business owners to be able to understand more easily where to take action, which critical issues to anticipate and which opportunities to seize. This funding round enables us to accelerate this journey and build a product that is increasingly capable of putting the company’s data at the service of decision-making,” Nicosia commented in a statement.
“Computis aims to radically improve and simplify the accounting experience for SMEs and start-ups. It does so through an innovative bundle of products and services, which brings together the expertise of a chartered accountant in a single solution, offering the same professional value but with far less complexity. It is a significant challenge, and to tackle it we have focused on our team. Enrico, Riccardo and Leonardo have already experienced the growth of start-ups and scale-ups from the inside, starting with Jet HR. They have the vision and the agility to bring about the transformation in this sector that AI now makes possible,” says Gianluca D’Agostino, managing partner at Techshop Capital.
The €2 million raised will be invested across three main areas: go-to-market, product and operations. On the commercial front, Computis aims to strengthen its customer acquisition strategy and gradually expand its customer base; on the operational front, the funds will enable the company to increase its service capacity, strengthening both its in-house team and its network of independent partner accountants.
A significant portion of the investment will also be channelled into the product’s technological development, with the aim of gradually placing artificial intelligence at the heart of SME business management. The target market is vast and still highly fragmented: the total turnover of Italian chartered accountants stands at €11.5 billion, whilst the segment of SMEs with fewer than 50 employees that rely on external professionals is estimated to be between €3.5 and €5 billion (source: Cassa dottori commercialisti 2024). In this context, Computis will focus on automating further administrative and accounting tasks and on making economic and financial data increasingly accessible, building a model in which software, automation and professional expertise work together to offer entrepreneurs a more timely overview of their figures and support them in their business decisions.
Among the key features currently under development are real-time financial reporting and a personalised AI agent. The former will enable business owners to have a constantly updated view of their financial position and performance, turning the year-end closing into a process of confirming data rather than the moment when the year’s performance is first revealed. The AI agent, on the other hand, will be designed to analyse and interpret data from individual companies and transform it into concrete recommendations to support decision-making: from identifying areas where margins can be improved and inefficiencies that lead to losses, to pinpointing the specific measures needed to manage the business more effectively.
Furthermore, Computis currently has a staff of nine and aims to build a team of around 12 professionals between late 2026 and early 2027, bringing in new skills to support its various areas of growth.
