Dubai CommerCity Launches AED1.8 Billion Second Expansion Phase
Dubai CommerCity, a free zone dedicated to digital commerce, has begun a second expansion phase valued at more than AED1.8 billion, equivalent to $490 million The project is set to add over 91,000 square metres of office, retail and logistics space spread across the free zone’s business, social and logistics clusters
The free zone, described as the region’s first dedicated to digital commerce, is a joint venture between the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority and the Dubai developer Wasl. Delivery of the expansion is scheduled between the first quarter of 2027 and the fourth quarter of 2028.
The move responds to rising demand from e-commerce and technology companies and follows sustained record demand at the destination, where occupancy has reached close to 96% across office, logistics and retail spaces. That level of take-up reflects the site’s growing appeal among digital commerce and technology firms and points to the need for a broader integrated ecosystem of business facilities, commercial offerings and specialised logistics services.
Phase Two will deliver a series of projects across the three key districts: the Business Cluster, the Logistics Cluster and the Social Cluster. Collectively they will add more than 91,000 square metres of new office space, raising the free zone’s capacity and widening the integrated ecosystem available to companies in digital commerce and technology.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of DIEZ, said the second phase arrives as Dubai continues to show its ability to grow and expand despite changes and challenges in the global economy. He indicated that the expansion reflects growing investor confidence in Dubai’s economic ecosystem and its capacity to attract high-quality investment while providing advanced economic infrastructure that responds to rapid shifts in emerging sectors. He added that it aligns with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33, and strengthens the emirate’s position as a global hub for the digital economy and future commerce, while serving as a platform for companies to grow and expand across regional and international markets.
