Chinese Robotics Startups Eye Hong Kong IPOs
Two Chinese robotics start-ups have confirmed plans to pursue initial public offerings in Hong Kong as early as next year, according to a report from the South China Morning Post. The move underscores the city’s growing role as a fundraising hub for the country’s rapidly expanding robotics sector.
Both companies are based in Hangzhou and were founded by former executives of Alibaba Group Holding. They are among a wave of Chinese embodied artificial intelligence start-ups seeking public listings as the industry accelerates production scaling.
Infiforce Technology Group, which develops a cognitive system for robots called AtomBrain, is raising capital ahead of a potential Hong Kong listing, said founder Isabella Bai. Bai, a former Alibaba vice-president, indicated that the company is aiming for a listing in 2027 and that preparation is underway. She noted that industry financing and research and development spending are moving quickly but declined to disclose specific targets or investor details.
Founded in 2023, Infiforce completed a funding round of nearly 1 billion yuan (about US$149 million) earlier this month and recently secured overseas orders, including a 1,000-unit contract in Saudi Arabia.
