N.Y. (WETM) – The Baker House Challenge, an entrepreneurship and business pitch competition, is coming to the Baker House Lodge at Cornell University
According to a release from Baker House, entrepreneurs will have the chance to put their business ideas to the test during the Baker House Challenge, a live business pitch competition offering $20,000 in cash prizes on Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Baker House Lodge at 702 University Ave on Cornell’s west campus.
The open-call competition invites students, alumni and members of the community to pitch real estate deals or operating companies live before a panel of experienced entrepreneurs, investors and business leaders.
The judging panel will feature names like Richard Baker of Baker House, entrepreneur and investor Adam Weitsman, Joe De Sena, founder of Spartan, and Jen Cohen, host of Habits and Hustle, along with special guests.
Participants may apply to pitch either a real estate deal or an operating company. Applications include a brief description of the proposed deal, and selected participants will receive additional details regarding their pitch slot before the event.
However, online applications are closed, and only five walk-on pitch slots remain. Those looking to register for one of the five slots must report to the registration desk on the Baker House lawn from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
The Baker House Challenge is designed as an afternoon-long entrepreneurship event open to spectators. Attendees can watch the pitches live while enjoying free BBQ from Will’s Smash Burgers and other refreshments, as well as there being a live DJ and additional activities on the lawn.
