Ashurst Perkins Coie has appointed Ben Plotnik as a Partner in its Corporate practice as the global law firm expands its private capital capabilities.
Plotnik will be based in Melbourne and brings more than 20 years of experience advising private equity, venture capital and alternative asset managers as well as institutional <a href="https://bitcomme.com/warren-buffett-sends-a-strong-warning-to-stock-market-investors/” title=”Warren Buffett sends a strong warning to stock market investors”>investors across Asia-Pacific and North America.
His practice covers private fund formation, sponsor-led transactions, institutional investor mandates, managed accounts, co-investment platforms and the structuring of complex private-market investment vehicles.
Plotnik joins Ashurst Perkins Coie from Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, where he most recently held primary responsibility for the firm’s private capital funds practice in Australia.
The appointment is intended to strengthen the connection between Ashurst Perkins Coie’s fund formation capabilities and its broader transactional practice.
That includes advising private equity sponsors from the process of raising capital through deploying those funds in acquisitions and other transactions.
The firm also expects Plotnik’s international client relationships to support collaboration between its funds teams across different markets following Ashurst and Perkins Coie’s transatlantic combination.
Plotnik plans to work closely with the firm’s M&A, tax and financial services regulatory teams while developing a dedicated private funds practice.
“Ben is a highly experienced funds lawyer with long standing relationships with various private equity and venture capital funds in this region.”
“As the Australian private capital market continues to grow, his arrival enables us to offer clients seamless integration between fund structuring and formation and M&A execution.”
John Brewster, Head of Corporate, APAC, at Ashurst Perkins Coie
“I am excited by the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the firm’s mergers and acquisitions, tax and financial services regulatory advice teams, and to build out a dedicated private funds team.”
