Amazon eyes drone delivery in South Carolina
Amazon hopes to launch drone delivery in the Grand Strand area of South Carolina.
The omnichannel retailer is aiming to use its North Myrtle Beach site as the drone delivery base but needs city planning approval to establish a pad needed for the drone operations, according to a Sun News report.
If approved it would be Amazon’s first South Carolina drone delivery operation. Amazon currently operates drone delivery service in 16 locations in the US.
The drones can deliver packages weighing up to 5 pounds and can cruise between 60 mph and 74 mph.
