Cross River Bank announced it would integrate Ripple USD (CRYPTO:RLUSD), Ripple’s dollar-backed stablecoin, into its core banking operations. Yet, the XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) price barely budged in response. Cross River, based in Fort Lee, New Jersey, provides banking services for fintech applications and will use the XRP Ledger to let clients switch seamlessly between dollars and RLUSD around the clock.
Despite the high-profile partnership with Ripple, XRP showed minimal movement. On the day of the announcement, XRP traded at $1.34, up 1.3% over the past 24 hours and the same over the past month. The coin remains significantly below its all-time high of $3.65 from July 2025. So, what explains the lack of reaction in XRP’s price when a U.S. bank is incorporating Ripple’s stablecoin?
Cross River Integrates RLUSD Into Its Banking System
Cross River operates its own banking software, the Core Operating System (COS). This core system is essential as it records every account balance and transaction. With this integration, RLUSD will function as an additional payment method within COS. Fintech companies can access it through the same application programming interface (API) they use for traditional payments, allowing them to transfer money on a public blockchain without developing any crypto-related tools.

Cross River’s existing offerings make this deal a fit. Its services include card issuing, card processing, FDIC-insured accountsand FedNow, alongside ACH and wire transfers. Essentially, Cross River acts as the chartered bank behind various fintech brands that don’t hold a bank charter. However, Ripple has not disclosed the specific financial terms of the RLUSD deal
Card Programs See the Most Practical Change From RLUSD
One of the most notable impacts of this integration will be on card programs. Cross River indicated that the integration should help card issuers—those who provide cards to consumers—and acquirers—those who process card payments for businesses—settle transactions much more efficiently. This includes intraday settlement, meaning companies can finalize transactions during the business day rather than waiting until the next day.
