Okla. — On Wednesday, three local companies split $75,000 in prize money for coming up with innovative solutions to Oklahoma’s healthcare challenges
The goal of the initiative is to help bring those challenges to life. The award is part of a showcase and pitch competition hosted by Saint Francis Health System and judged by health care leaders and venture capitalists.
FOX23 spoke to the founder of the winning company, Watkins-Conti Products, which pioneered a vaginal insert designed to prevent bladder leaks that are caused by coughing, laughing or sneezing.
“I learned a ton today listening to all of the other amazing presenters and learning about the companies in Oklahoma. There’s a misconception that innovation in health care is on the coasts and that’s just not the case. We have amazing companies here in Oklahoma and I’m so proud to be a part of it,” said Allison Watkins.
First place in the competition won $40,000, second place was awarded $25,000 and third place received $10,000.
