PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (CBS12) —World Market is set to return to the South Florida retail scene with a new Palm Beach Gardens store opening Friday.
The store, at 2420 PGA Blvd. in Prosperity Centre, is scheduled to begin its grand-opening celebration at 8:45 a.m. Sept. 25, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony expected to include the mayor and other city officials.
Doors will open at 9 a.m. Friday. The retailer said the opening weekend will include giveaways, in-store food tastings and other festivities.
World Market sells an eclectic mix of imported foods and snacks, wine and beverages, furniture, rugs, home décor, kitchen items and gifts. Its rotating selection of international treats, seasonal merchandise and affordable home goods has helped make it a popular destination for shoppers looking for items that are harder to find at traditional big-box stores.
The Palm Beach Gardens location marks World Market’s return to the Southeast Florida market, according to the company.
There do not appear to be any other World Market stores currently operating in South Florida or on the Treasure Coast. The closest Florida location listed by the retailer is in Melbourne, while other Florida stores include Fort Myers and Naples on the state’s southwest coast. World Market’s store locatorlists 14 Florida locations before the Palm Beach Gardens opening.
The Palm Beach Gardens store will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
