Naver Cloud has launched DSAC, a cloud security service that provides unified management of database (DB) and server access. The service combines access permission management, work history logging, and audit functions for servers and DBs that process personal information into a single offering. It automatically creates proxy servers within customer virtual networks to control connections. Delivered as a SaaS solution, it can be used directly from the console without building separate infrastructure. The service also includes sensitive data masking and anomaly detection features. The goal is to reduce the burden on companies complying with South Korea’s Personal Information Protection Act.
Key Elements
Naver Cloud has introduced a cloud security service that provides unified management of database (DB) and server access. It is designed to enable companies to fulfill legal obligations related to personal information without building separate solutions or deploying specialized personnel.
Naver Cloud announced on the 22nd the launch of DSAC (DB & Server Access Control), a database and server access control service. It provides access permission management, work history logging, and audit functions for servers and DBs that process personal information as a single service.
Proxy-Based Access Control and Automatic Logging
DSAC operates by automatically creating proxy servers within the customer’s virtual network and configuring all connection paths to route through these proxies. This consolidates all connections to servers and DBs into a single controlled path.
Administrators can finely configure which servers and DBs each user can access, eliminating the need to build a separate account management system. The creation and deletion of proxy servers are also automated, reducing operational burden.
Work performed on servers and DBs is automatically logged. Sensitive personal information such as resident registration numbers and card details is masked during storage. Recorded logs can be queried in real time or retained long-term by integrating with Naver Cloud’s existing log management services.
Focus on Reducing Regulatory Compliance Burden
Under South Korea’s Personal Information Protection Act and related standards, businesses that process personal information must retain access logs for related systems for at least one year, and access permission change histories for at least three years.
Previously, companies primarily responded to these regulations by building external access control solutions separately. This process incurred costs and time, requiring specialized personnel to directly access corporate environments to configure settings and operate separate management servers.
DSAC focuses on significantly reducing this build-out process. Delivered as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), it can be configured and used directly from the Naver Cloud console. The company stated that it is the only cloud-native access control service in South Korea capable of addressing domestic regulatory requirements.
The service also includes anomaly detection that identifies unusual access patterns in real time, such as off-hours connections or bulk queries. This enables companies to respond quickly to internal security threats.
Kim Jae-dong, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Naver Cloud, said, “This service is fundamentally different from existing approaches in that companies can establish an access control environment directly from the cloud console without complex installation and configuration processes. We will continue to introduce practical security services that reduce the time and cost burden of legal compliance, enabling all companies regardless of size to enjoy a high level of security.”
With the launch of DSAC, Naver Cloud aims to support small and mid-sized companies that lack dedicated security personnel in building access control frameworks in cloud environments and complying with personal information regulations.
