JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an application from Confluence Rivers Utility Operating Company to provide sewer service and acquire the sewer system assets currently operated by Consolidated Public Water Supply District No. 1 in Knox County, covering the Baring Area, Hurdland, and Newark wastewater facilities.
The commission reviewed Confluence Rivers’ application, along with a recommendation and proposed conditions from commission staff and Confluence Rivers’ response, before concluding that the required factors for granting a certificate of convenience and necessity had been met and that the transfer served the public interest.
The commission’s order includes several conditions. Confluence Rivers must adopt Consolidated’s current flat rate of $35 per month for sewer service and distribute an informational brochure to newly acquired customers before their first bill, including information on how to contact the company. The company must also ensure its staff are properly trained on the Knox County system and its rates, and it must report customer experience data from Knox County customers to the commission’s Customer Experience department as part of its regular reporting requirements.
Confluence Rivers currently provides water service to approximately 6,500 customers and sewer service to approximately 7,400 customers across Missouri.
