42Maru has received a patent registration decision in South Korea for its LLM-based data visualization technology and has completed its U.S. patent application. The technology focuses on organizing unstructured document information within enterprises into tables and charts, while verifying response figures against actual data to reduce hallucination. The company is expanding its patent portfolio into the agentic AI space, including a report generation patent related to SiteBunny and a generative AI conversational agent patent. Its cumulative patent count stands at 122, comprising 63 in South Korea and 39 in the United States, with 50 applications filed since 2023 alone. 42Maru plans to apply these technologies to its enterprise LLM solutions and expand supply to corporations and public institutions.
Key Elements
AI specialist 42Maru has received a patent registration decision in South Korea for its large language model (LLM)-based data visualization technology and has also completed its U.S. patent application. The move is aimed at strengthening global competitiveness by securing technology rights in the enterprise AI market.
42Maru announced on the 21st that its patent for a “Method and System for Generating Data Representation Based on Large Language Model” has received a registration decision in South Korea, with the U.S. patent application also completed. The patent covers technology that enables an LLM to read information contained in unstructured documents within an enterprise and automatically organize the requested answers into tables or charts for display.
The core focus is on enhancing answer reliability. The technical configuration includes a verification procedure that checks whether figures included in generated responses match actual enterprise data. According to the company, this helps suppress hallucination—where enterprise-grade small language models (sLLMs) fabricate plausible-sounding information they were not trained on—and improves response accuracy.
The technology is characterized by combining enterprise data computation and inference capabilities to visualize analytical results. It is expected to broaden the application scope of enterprise AI by serving as a tool that supports data-driven decision-making beyond simple text responses.
Beyond this patent, 42Maru is rapidly expanding its patent portfolio in the agentic AI space. The patent for a “Method and System for Generating Reports Using Enterprise Data,” related to its conversational agentic AI service SiteBunny, has completed domestic registration in South Korea, with examinations underway in the United States and Europe. The company is also broadening its rights scope through divisional applications.
A patent covering a method for providing generative AI-based conversational communication agent services has completed South Korean filing and Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) international application, followed by a U.S. application completed in January of this year. More recently, the company filed a new patent related to a security system that leverages language models to strengthen data security.
42Maru’s cumulative patents filed or secured domestically and internationally now total 122. By region, the breakdown is 63 in South Korea, 39 in the United States, 18 in Europe, and 2 PCT international applications. Patents filed since 2023—when the generative AI transition began in earnest—alone number 50.
The company plans to sequentially apply these secured technologies to its enterprise LLM solutions and expand supply to corporations and public institutions.
Kim Dong-hwan, CEO of 42Maru, said, “Patents are the most objective indicator of an AI company’s technological capability and a safety net that protects its business in the global market.” He added, “We will continue to expand domestic and international filings for core technologies in LLM and agentic AI to build a robust patent barrier in the global market.”
