Iranian hackers affiliated with the regime in Tehran shut down a British power plant for four days in an “unprecedented” cyberattack in late July, the Telegraph reported on Saturday. 

The government said that at no point was there a risk to the UK’s energy system, but the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has contacted power companies to advise them about the risk of cyber attacks.

The incident is thought to have happened at around the same time as a series of cyber attacks targeting water infrastructure in the US last month.
