The breach reportedly began in January 2025, according to a notice filed with the California Attorney General. Dubrow’s practice confirmed last month that patient data had been taken and began notifying affected individuals.
The information potentially included Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, addresses, birth dates, prescription information and treatment records. Some patient information also included procedure images and X-rays.
Dubrow told TMZ cybercriminals had become increasingly sophisticated with artificial intelligence and other technology. He also said he had spent significant money and resources on protecting patient information.
The practice said the breach had been contained and reported to the FBI. Patients affected by the incident were being offered complimentary identity protection.
Dubrow also said a $1 million cyber protection insurance policy was available for patients. The practice had also established a free monitoring service going forward.
The plastic surgeon said there was no evidence that the accessed information had been misused or shared. The practice’s notification process began after confirming that patient data had been taken.
